Privacy Policy

How we handle your data, and what rights you have over it.

This policy explains what personal data Akasha collects, why we collect it, how we store it, and what rights you have. We keep it straightforward because we believe privacy policies should be readable, not just legally compliant.

Who we are

Akasha is a personal blog focused on psychology, spirituality, and personal development. It is operated from Scotland, United Kingdom. For any privacy-related questions, contact us through the channels listed on our site.

What data we collect

Email addresses. If you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address through a form hosted via Netlify Forms. We use this solely to send you content updates. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.

Technical data. Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically collects standard server log data when you visit this site. This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is collected by Netlify as part of their infrastructure and is governed by Netlify's privacy policy. We do not independently collect or process this data.

Analytics data. We use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service. Umami collects anonymised data about page views, referrers, browser type, device type, and general geographic region. It does not collect personal information, does not use cookies, does not track you across websites, and does not create user profiles. No consent banner is required because no personal data is processed. See Umami's privacy policy.

Cookies

This site does not use cookies. Our analytics provider (Umami) is fully cookieless. No advertising, tracking, or marketing cookies are used. No cookie consent banner is required.

Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we process your data on the following bases:

Consent. When you submit your email address through our subscription form, you consent to receiving content from us. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

Legitimate interest. We have a legitimate interest in understanding how our site is used and in maintaining its security and performance. This interest is balanced against your privacy rights and does not override them.

How we store your data

Netlify stores email addresses from our subscription form on their secure infrastructure. Netlify's data centres are located in the United States. Netlify participates in standard contractual clauses and data protection frameworks for international data transfers.

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your address will be removed within 30 days.

Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and other applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification: request correction of any inaccurate data.
Erasure: request deletion of your personal data.
